Old Orchard Beach Travel Guide
Welcome to Old Orchard Beach!
A seven-mile strip of white sand hugs the coastline at Old Orchard Beach, one of Maine's oldest seashore resorts. From hotels and bed and breakfasts to cottages and campgrounds, accommodations abound, and a host of rental properties are conveniently situated right on the beach. Saco Bay's low surf results in prime swimming conditions. Other popular recreational activities include golf, tennis and deep-sea fishing. A number of family attractions are located in Old Orchard Beach and the surrounding area, including Palace Playland, a beachfront amusement park that features a ferris wheel, a carousel and a roller coaster; Saco's Funtown/Splashtown USA, where pools, water slides, rides and games afford hours of fun; and Pirates Cove Adventure Golf, a 36-hole mini-golf course fraught with challenging obstacles. Visitors also have the chance to watch live harness racing in the summer months at Scarborough Downs, located seven miles north of town.
